NORTH WESTERN NATURALISTS' UNION

VC59 Flora Project

The N.W.N.U. is playing a leading role in the preparation of this collaborative publication. It will provide a snapshot of the mosses, liverworts, lichens, macro-fungi and algae, as well as of vascular plants, in the area between the Mersey and the Ribble. In doing so, it will provide naturalists, conservationists and planners with an essential means of assessing environmental impact and consequential change in one of the most ecologically diverse parts of Britain. The work is intended, not only for present-day naturalists, but also as a base-line census on which future generations will be able to build.

The closing date for records (which should be sent to David Earl - see below) is 31 December 2019 after which date no further records will be included in the Flora.

It is intended that the Flora will be published in 2020 and, thereafter, annual updates will be posted on this web site.
